About this Event
Join HopeWorks and Playing it Forward-The Playback Theatre Company of Howard County Maryland for this special event!
Playback Theatre is a unique, improvisational form of theatre that invites audience members to share stories from their lives and watch them enacted or "played back" by the actors on the spot.
By the end of the performance, you will have witnessed several stories enacted. Chances are, you will laugh, cry, and experience fresh insights into your life.
This event is specifically for survivors of trauma, (sexual and/or intimate partner violence) and those closely affected by trauma such as family members, spouses, and the adult children of survivors.
ABOUT HOPEWORKS
HopeWorks’ mission is to support and advocate for people in Howard County affected by sexual and intimate partner violence and to engage the community in creating the change required for violence prevention.
ARTS-BASED PROGRAMS
At HopeWorks we facilitate several arts-based programs for survivors and the public.
Our arts-based programs educate and nurture emotional and physical wellness through activities designed to improve relationships, clarify thoughts and feelings, lower blood pressure, promote an exchange of ideas, build community, examine social justice issues, and learn more about self.
This even is made possible by the Howard County Arts Council through a grant from Howard County Government.
ABOUT PLAYING IT FORWARD - THE PLAYBACK THEATRE COMPANY OF HOWARD COUNTY
"Playback Theatre is improv with a soul." They use interactive theatrical forms to honestly "play back" the audience members’ stories, emotions, memories and feelings about the world we live in. At each performance, they hope to build understanding, awareness, acceptance, validation and even foster some healing to our audience members.
