Anciients is a progressive metal band hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Known for their intricate compositions and seamless fusion of heavy riffs, melodic passages, and progressive song structures, Anciients draws influence from classic rock, doom, sludge, and modern metal. Their sound has often been compared to a blend of Mastodon, Opeth, and High on Fire, while maintaining a unique voice of their own.
Formed in 2011, Anciients quickly gained critical acclaim with their debut album Heart of Oak (2013), which earned a nomination for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year at the Juno Awards. Their sophomore release, Voice of the Void (2016), further cemented their reputation for crafting powerful, atmospheric metal, showcasing both technical prowess and emotional depth. The album won the 2018 Juno Award for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year.
Renowned for their dynamic live performances, Anciients has toured with the likes of Lamb of God, High on Fire, and Goatwhore, building a loyal fanbase across North America and beyond. The band continues to evolve, pushing the boundaries of heavy music with each release.
