About this Event
Over 1,000 years ago, early potters were making coiled pots out of clay and sand for cooking vessels and ceremonial functions. Join us on International Archaeology Day to learn how to form a small-coiled pot and add distinctive decorations using early techniques. This workshop is recommended for adults and youth aged 8+.
This workshop will be led by experienced archaeologists and educators with the Alliance for Weedon Island Archaeological Research and Education (AWIARE). AWIARE is a non-profit organization that promotes and facilitates archaeological research, scientific exploration, and education at the Weedon Island Preserve and the gulf coast region. Further public awareness is promoted through tours, workshops, online resources, and traveling exhibits. Learn more about AWIARE at https://awiare.org/.
