Ancestral Foodways: The Politics of Land, Labor, and Food Sovereignty
Come join us for an engaging afternoon delving into the intersection of land, labor, and food sovereignty through the lens of ancestral food traditions. Come listen to and engage with leaders and practitioners in the field, including Lauren Peters (Corn Sister Circle/Three Sisters’ Garden), Dior St. Hillaire (GreenFeen and BK ROT), Maya Marie S. (Deep Routes), Emma Kreyche (Worker Justice Center of New York), and Sheryll Durant (Kelly Street Garden and New Roots Community Farm). Learn about the political implications of how we cultivate, harvest, and consume our food. Connect with like-minded individuals passionate about sustainable agriculture and traditional foodways. This event will inspire you to reflect on the historical significance of our food practices and the importance of preserving these traditions for future generations. We will also engage in crafting and conversations over refreshments throughout the event! Don't miss out on this opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations and immerse yourself in contributing to a just and resilient future. Organized by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences, Pace Sustainability Initiative, Anti-Racist Advocates, and the Center for Community Action and Research.
