ANATS NSW Presents: The Perceptible Breath: The Middendorf Therapeutic Breath MethodAn Experiential Breathing Workshop and Masterclass with Professor Tanya Aspelmeier, Respiratory Therapist
Discover the power of conscious breathing and how it connects to the wholeness of the human experience. This workshop is specially designed for singing teachers.
"To let the breath come, let it go, and wait until it comes back on its own is to perceive the unconscious function of the breath. A movement emerges, a connection to the human wholeness, and the possibility to get to know and experience oneself" Ilse Middendorf, The Perceptible Breath; 1990
Join ANATS NSW for this interactive, practical workshop and masterclass for Singing Teachers: "The Perceptible Breath: The Middendorf Therapeutic Breath Method. The workshop will be led by Tanya Aspelmeier: Respiratory Therapist and Professor at University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Middendorf Breathwork is based on Prof. Ilse Middendorf's therapeutic breathing method also known as BreathExperience, the primary focus of this breathwork is to discover the body’s own natural response and sensation to the breath as it comes and goes.
The key difference between Middendorf’s breathwork and most other somatic breathing practices is in allowing breath to flow through the body without imposition. Middendorf Breathwork trains a person’s skills of perception to understand and navigate their nervous system and regulate their own mental ability.
Workshop participants will be guided to increase conscious contact with the individual rhythm of their breath and its relationship to the voice for singing and speaking. The power of the breath and the flexibility of the whole body will be explored and expanded so that the free flow of breath is made accessible across a range of vocal skills and participants experience an enhanced creative use of their instrument.
The workshop is interactive and informal allowing room for questions and discussion about breath-related singing pedagogy.
The morning breathing workshop with Tanya will run from 10:30am - 1:45pm. As this is a highly specialised workshop, we have places for 25 workshop participants only. In the afternoon there will be a masterclass from 2:15pm - 4:30pm. You can choose to attend the whole day or the workshop or masterclass independently. See pricing in ticket bookings. We look forward to seeing you at this experiential workshop hosted by ANATS NSW.
