We'll be joined by the Shaolin Afronauts: Producer/ songwriter Ross McHenry and songwriters Dylan Marshall and Kevin Van Der Zwaag. This session will be moderated by singer, composer and educator Lauren Henderson.
The band will unpack their 5-part project 'The Fundamental Nature of Being'. The project was recorded over just five days, drawing upon the band's rich influence of 1970s West and South African music, jazz, psych-rock & soul and electronic avant-garde. The session will explore the important role of improvisation and spontaneity in the band's recording process, and the way that approach has evolved over the ensemble's near fifteen years together.
Moderating the panel will be Lauren Henderson.
