After a year long hiatus, Norm De Plume (Delusions Of Grandeur, UK) brings his much loved Analogue Discogue party back to life. Reintroducing things in a gentle and easy way with a series of intimate dances at York Lane: The dainty European styled cafe-bar, behind Wynyard station that ooses charisma and unpretentious charm. It's no wonder it's one of Sydney's best kept secrets.
Norm will install his beautiful 1980s Tannoy sound system, and all-vinyl booth. Dual-concentric drivers anyone?
"What you get when you come to Analogue Discogue is an all-analogue, hifi sound experience. There are no digital components in the audio chain at all and I have always tried to adhere to the David Mancuso principal where less is always more. We feed direct from a Condesa discrete circuit mixer to audiophile power amps, to speakers. What you get is a very dynamic, open and pure sound."
The excellent sound is only half the story though. AD has always been a kaleidoscope into the deep house producer's extensive record collection. If you come early and stay all night (which we highly recommend) you could hear everything from Bluenote to Bossa, Reggae to Rock Steady, Boogie to Disco , Jazz-Funk to Fusion, Chicago House to Deep Techno and much more.
Joining Norm in the booth for his 2nd appearance at AD will be SLIPPEDUP, the young-gun House DJ & fledgling producer from Eora, who's played around and about at Stanley's, 7th Day Brewery, Housemates (Tokyo Sing Song), Attic (Cafe Del Mar) etc!
In a city where the vinyl-bar seems to be on the rise , (but the vibes can be hit and miss), do yourself a favour and come and experience the real thing. (Norm's been pushing out all-vinyl selections through hifi sound in the harbour city since 2017.)
