5th Annual Anakay Meekwewin Gathering will be held on October 27 - 29, 2025 at Thunder Bay, Ontario. This grassroots healing initiative came from a dream of Sam Achneepineskum, an Elder originally from Ogoki Post, Marten Falls First Nation, who saw a need for Indigenous Peoples living in Thunder Bay to recognize and return to their teachings. “It’s important to pass knowledge down to those who are coming behind us. It’s the path to minobaamadiziwin, the good life” says Elder Sam. We know that traditional gatherings are not merely events; they are crucial spaces for reconnection, healing, and the transmission of cultural knowledge and practices.
