After a long wait due to the pandemic, the international event series Architects, not Architecture, or “AnA”, is celebrating the comeback of the face-to-face events and one of them will take place in Oslo, followed by four more events in Germany, The Netherlands and Denmark this autumn.
The “AnA” series is well-known for providing a glimpse on great personalities of architecture with one golden rule: speakers are not allowed to talk about projects. This has allowed the audience to enjoy unique content since its beginnings in 2015.
On Thursday, September 1, 2022 at DOGA, two of the most distinguished Norwegian architects and a special guest speaker from United Kingdom will talk about the personal experiences and influences which shaped them as architects in their most important creative periods in their lives:
– Peter Cook, CHAP, London, www.chap.id
– Reiulf Ramstad, Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter, Oslo, www.reiulframstadarkitekter.com
– Beate Hølmebakk, manthey kula, Oslo, www.mantheykula.no
This event is kindly supported by Equitone, JUNG, Object Carpet x Polyflor and Schüco Norge.
The three of them are well-known for their remarkable body of work and careers. Our guest speaker, Sir Peter Cook has been a pivotal figure within the global architectural world for over half a century. He was one of the founding members of the influential Archigram group in the 1960s, is former director of the Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA), London, and the Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London (UCL), London. Beate Hølmebakk’s practice, Manthey Kula, has become known for small but beguiling architectural interventions that play with form and context in unexpected ways. She has been professor at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, AHO, since 2007. Reiulf Ramstad, head of the Oslo-based architectural firm Reiulf Ramstad Architects (RRA), adheres to a definitive ideology. The firm displays a humanistic approach in all of their work. “Architecture should enhance the quality of the environment,” Ramstad claims, rather than impose itself on it.
We look forward to exciting lectures and discussions with our inspiring guest speakers.
