The Northampton Kiwanis Club will be hosting a special comedy rendition of Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” at the Elks Lodge in Florence on Saturday December 7 at 4:00pm as a fundraiser for youth service programs in Northampton. Enjoy h'orderves and drinks alongside a hilarious retelling of this classic holiday tale adapted by Kathleen Palmer featuring members of the Northampton Kiwanis Club, musical performers, and local celebrities. The Northampton Kiwanis Club is a community service organization dedicated to children and the local community. Since reforming in 2018, the club has worked with Cathedral in the Night providing meals to community members, distributed backpacks filled with school supplies to local elementary school students, and installed several Little Free Libraries in the city’s public housing developments.
This fundraiser will support the formation of a new Builders Club at JFK Middle School, the Kiwanis Service Leadership Program for middle school age students. The Northampton Kiwanis Club currently oversees the high school-level Key Clubs at Northampton High School, Hopkins Academy, and the HEC Academy, and the college-level Circle K clubs Mount Holyoke College and UMASS Amherst.
“Many of these middle school students are passionate about local and national issues, but may not have the knowledge or support to get involved,” says Mollie Hartford, a club member and parent of a JFK student. “A Builders Club and its resources offer the framework for these young people to build their confidence and experience making a real difference in their community.”
Tickets for the December 7 production will be available at the door and in advance at www.northamptonkiwanis.org. For more information, please email [email protected].
