Enjoy your favourite choruses and solo arias from opera with superlative soloists; the fabulous Chorus of Preston Opera accompanied by the award winning 65 piece strong Blackpool Symphony Orchestra conducted bv Helen Harrison fresh from conducting the BBC Concert Orchestra on Radio 3.Our opera gala will include Verdi's ever popular Triumphal March, Anvil Chorus, 'Va pensiero' and a preview of 'La Traviata' ahead of Preston Opera's production in Summer 2025. Staying with Italian composers we'll hear Mimi and Rodolfo meet and fall in love in Puccini's classic 'La Boheme' as well as the high drama from Tosca with his 'Te Deum'. Rossini features too including the famous 'Largo al Factotum' from 'The Barber of Seville'. Mascagni's 'Easter Hymn' adds to our celebration of the best of Italian opera. Fittingly our friends from Blackpool Symphony Orchestra bring the sound of the sea with them as we perform 'Take to the Shore' from Smyth's 'The Wreckers' and Britten's 'From the Gutter' from 'Peter Grimes'. With Wagner's 'Pilgrim's Chorus', music from Mozart's Magic Flute, Bernstein's moving Finale to 'Make our Garden Grow' from Candide and more to boot this will be a feast of the very best of operatic music!
Early booking of tickets is advised as our previous Gala sold out so do please book early to guarantee your seat!
We look forward to welcoming you to a night celebrating the magical world of Opera.
