An Introduction to the Nyungne Practice

Nyungne is a special practice of Chenrezing, the Buddha of Compassion, begun by the nun Gelong-ma Palmo in the 10th-11th century. This practice involves reciting prayers, observing precepts, fasting, making full-length prostrations, and singing Gelong-ma’s praises of Chenrezig. This practice helps us purify negative karmic imprints and obstructions and is considered an effective method to enhance our spiritual growth and overcome obstacles on the path to enlightenment.
We are fortunate to have Angel Chen introduce the Nyungne practice. Having completed 25 sets of Nyungne (i.e. 50-day retreat) for 11 consecutive years from 2013 to 2023, she will share her experiences, insights, and how this practice has benefited her. She is much more fluent in Mandarin than in English; Kien Lim will translate whenever she speaks in Mandarin.
