What is slow stitching ?

Slow stitching is a new art form built on traditional practices. A meditative and creative process that involves pulling a threaded needle through fabric. It is a delightful process that uses fabrics, lace, yarns, scraps of textiles, old clothing, even paper and sometimes plastic. There is no set pattern to follow, no embroidery lines to mark up or clothing to mend. Slow stitching is about using a needle and thread in the same way you would use a paintbrush. It's about creating art, enjoying the process rather than worrying about perfection, and simply enjoying the process of stitching for stitching's sake.

So, take a step back from the busy world we live in, relax, and spend some time with our lovely tutor Elaine, taking some time for you and enjoying the benefits of creating for creating's sake by practicing some mindful stitching.

Mindful stitching isn't about being perfect. If you haven't got meditation down to a fine art, it doesn't matter. Neither does it matter if your stitching isn't the best.

The focus of mindful stitching is on the intention and the joy of creating. What the final product looks like isn't relevant. If it's got raw edges, so be it. If a few of the stitches are wonky, it doesn't matter.

*This class is free for anyone that is earning under the £25,750 per annum threshold. For anyone earning over this, it will be £5 to cover the materials.
