An invitation to experience an introductory workshop into capturing the beauty of nature's colour on fibre through traditional natural dyeing methods. Join expert Irene Griffin for a one day workshop at the beautiful Resurgence Centre in Hartland, Devon, to learn about using fresh and dried plant dyestuffs to colour woollen knitting yarns and fabric swatches. To accompany this you will also create your own sample notation and recipe folder to keep for future reference. No previous experience is required and all materials and vegetarian/vegan lunch are provided.

Artist bio:
Irene has worked in the field of sustainable Textile Design for over 15 years, specialising in growing and using natural plant dyes. She developed her knowledge and insight into the traditions of natural dyeing methods through research and teaching workshops for with the Fashion and Textiles Institute at Falmouth University, establishing a natural dye garden on the Penryn Campus. In 2023 Irene travelled across Japan visiting traditional natural dye studios to learn specialist natural dyeing techniques unique to each region and is currently developing an ongoing project to establish a bespoke natural dye-works and consultancy studio in Cornwall.
