About this Event
Traditional approaches to working in communities have often tended to be 'top-down' interventions by outside agencies trying to fix problems.Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) is a way of working with people and communities that starts with what is STRONG not what is WRONG.When it comes to making change, It is not about "doing to" but understanding that there are many things that communities are best placed to do themselves. In this face to face interactive workshop we will explore all aspects of ABCD and how it is being embedded in the city of Leeds.
We will focus on:
- ABCD principles and practices.
- Leeds City Council's ABCD Pathfinder project working with 14 third sector/ community organisations across the city.
- Case studies and learning from local citizens and practitioners.
- ABCD in Post COVID communities.
- The workshop will also provide space for you to reflect on your work and consider how ABCD may shape your approach.
A light refreshment will be provided.
This training is funded through Leeds City Council ABCD Programme and will be led by Howard Bradley and the LS14 Trust team a rooted community organisation working in an ABCD approach in Seacroft in east Leeds. This training is open to all people and organisations from Leeds.
There are a few places for those outside of the city but please contact [email protected] before booking your place.
