In her inaugural lecture Kathy Daniels will bring together her academic and industry background to explore the obligations of a university to its students. She will explore what ‘success’ means for a student and how the university can help the student to achieve success. She will also explore what businesses need from students and the role of the university in meeting those needs.


Kathy Daniels is the first Professor of Practice at Aston University. She started her career working in Human Resources in the manufacturing sector in the West Midlands rising to a senior management role. She then set up her own consultancy writing talking and advising on employment law issues before moving into a full-time role at Aston. Alongside teaching employment law at Aston University she is the Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor (Engagement) working across the engagement portfolio which supports the three beneficiary groups of the university – students business and the professions and our region and society.
