ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hélène Jawhara Piñer received her PhD in Medieval History and the History of Food from the University of Tours and the University of Bordeaux. Author of Sephardi: Cooking the History (2021) and Jews, Food, and Spain (2022)—a National Jewish Book Award finalist—she has lectured at Yale University, the University of Pennsylvania, Bar Ilan University, and other prestigious institutions. Recently, Piñer was awarded a Visiting Research Fellowship from the Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies at the University of Pennsylvania Libraries, where she’ll conduct her research in 2024.

Pati Jinich is the 4x James Beard Award-winning and Emmy-nominated host and executive producer of both , her PBS Primetime docuseries that reveals untold stories from the US-Mexico border, and , which has brought Mexican flavors into American homes for more than 14 years. A former political analyst, Pati has made it her life’s work to build greater understanding between her two home countries: Mexico where she was born and the United States where she currently resides and is raising her family. In addition to her television work, she is a New York Times bestselling author with 3 cookbooks, including her most recent , and has contributed to publications including The New York Times. She has been named one of the “Top 5 Border Ambassadors” from The Council of the Americas and one of the “100 Greatest Cooks of All Time” by Epicurious.
