The Sporting & Dining Club is thrilled to welcome Wayne Barnes, retired England Rugby Union referee, at our event sponsored by .

Wayne recently refereed the RWC 2023 Final, between the Springboks and the All Blacks, and announced his retirement from refereeing November 2023, after officiating in 111 test matches, including five Rugby World Cups and 26 Six Nations matches.

Named World Rugby Referee of the Year in 2019 and having recently officiated the Rugby World Cup Final in 2023, Barnes brings a wealth of experience and stories that span the breadth of his illustrious career.

“Over the past 20 years, I have been in the middle of some of the greatest rugby matches in history. I have seen some of the world’s best players and worked with some of the finest coaches the game has ever produced” says Wayne.
