State Climatologist Trent Ford will speak about our local and regional weather patterns on February 24, 5:30 pm at Harold’s Pizza Oven, 3821 N Sterling in Peoria. There will be free pizza and there is no admission fee. Beverages not included.Dr Ford is an accomplished speaker and researcher about climate, with degrees from Illinois State University and Texas A&M University. He will provide slides and engage in questions from the audience. Dr Ford will be available after the meeting to discuss employment opportunities for interested students.
Peoria has over 140 years of documented weather and the patterns of weather change provide everyone with useful information. Farmers, gardeners, stormwater planners, landscapers and many businesses will benefit from knowing past and current weather trends.
In a June 14, 2023 article from Successful Farming magazine he said, “ If its information, if it’s data, if it’s analysis, if it will help to make a decision, whatever that is, that’s my job. That is the most important thing for people to know. I’m not a research scientist who just got plugged into this position. I’m really here to serve.”
