ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
Sonia Fulford is a distinguished sports executive, entrepreneur, and author from the Turks & Caicos Islands. As President of the Turks & Caicos Islands Football Association and a long-serving member of both the FIFA Council and Concacaf Council, she is recognized internationally for her leadership and her commitment to advancing girls’ and women’s football. A passionate advocate for empowerment, access, and development across the region, Sonia has dedicated her career to creating pathways for young women in sport. She is also co-owner of Missick’s Contracting Ltd. and Salt Life Excursions. In Hope in the Ashes, she shares an intimate and courageous account of overcoming betrayal and reclaiming emotional and spiritual wholeness. Her voice, both vulnerable and resolute, offers inspiration to readers navigating their own journeys of healing, purpose, and renewal.
Guardvin “Garvey” Missick is a veteran construction professional, entrepreneur, and author with more than twenty-five years of expertise in project management and development throughout the Turks & Caicos Islands. As co-owner of Missick’s Contracting Ltd. and Salt Life Excursions, he is known for his integrity, craftsmanship, and hands-on approach to building and business. In Hope in the Ashes, Garvey opens the door to his own transformation, sharing a powerful, unfiltered look at accountability, emotional growth, and spiritual awakening. His perspective offers a rare and honest guide for men seeking to confront their past, rebuild trust, and pursue meaningful change.
ABOUT THE MODERATOR:
Neki Mohan has been a journalist for decades, she is known for her energetic storytelling and has won awards for her work at home and abroad. In 2020, she launched her own media company, and she has been shining a spotlight on things she loves about her community in South Florida & the Caribbean. A sought-after motivational speaker and moderator, she is an asset to teams, getting out vital information to the community. Her stories have won many awards from several organizations. Born in Brooklyn, NY, to West Indian parents, she was raised in Trinidad and Tobago and returned to the US for College. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Politics from the University of Maryland. She began her career alongside journalism greats like Carole Simpson, Peter Jennings, David Brinkley and Sam Donaldson at ABC News Washington Bureau. Her on air career began in Jackson Mississippi and has taken her to Los Angeles, Cleveland and 2 decades in Miami.
