About this Event
During this evening event, Roosje Klap will talk to Saskia van Stein, Director of the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam, about her work, career and motivations. Topics will include her use of graphic design, the ARK collective (Atelier Roosje Klap), and how knowledge sharing can make modern technologies more open, inclusive and fair. She will also discuss her role at Noorderlicht and projects such as LAWKI.
Roosje Klap
A graduate of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Roosje Klap has established a network spanning art, design, research and education both nationally and internationally. She is the founder of ARK (Atelier Roosje Klap) and has been the director of Noorderlicht, a platform for photography and lens-based media, since last year.
She focuses on unconventional artistic research and playful collaborations with artists, curators, architects, typographers and writers. Through ARK, she shares knowledge in order to promote open, inclusive and fair technologies. ARK works in various configurations on its own projects and commissions. She describes this working method as ‘post-signature.’
ARK has collaborated with institutions including the MU Hybrid Art House in Eindhoven, the Digital Art Museum in Taipei and the Dutch Pavilion at the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale. In 2022, ARK won the Golden Calf (the Netherlands’ most prestigious award for audiovisual work) in the Best Digital Cultural Production category for its LAWKI installation.
