About this Event

We're thrilled to be welcoming Rachel Handley into the store for the Launch of her Debut book taking place on the Saturday, 22nd of October at 5:00 pm.

About the author

Rachel Handley is an author and philosopher. Originally from Merseyside, she now lives in Dublin, Ireland where she teaches Philosophy at Trinity College Dublin. Her fiction has been published in The Martian Magazine, 365 Tomorrows, and Tree and Stone Magazine, among others. Possible Worlds and Other Stories is her debut short story collection.

About the book:

Possible Worlds and Other Stories is a short story collection by author and academic philosopher, Rachel Handley. Ranging from flash fiction to novelette, this collection of over 20 science fiction stories will take you on a journey through possible worlds with themes on identity, corruption, personhood, friendship, duty, loyalty, and the meaning of life and death.

In Simulacrum we meet the souls of the dead in limbo, and a corrupt angel with the unlikely name of Bob who wishes to control the afterlife as if he were a god.

In Possible Worlds Alex lives a hermit like existence monitoring the alien creatures who regularly appear in his lab, spew sand everywhere, then leave. The aliens, commonly called World-Doors, act as portals to other worlds. They’ve never interacted with humans, usually disappearing too quickly for any communication. That is, until on an otherwise ordinary Wednesday, Alex is abducted by one.

If philosophical science fiction, weird worlds, and/or guinea pig invaders strike your fancy, then this book might well be the book for you!
