Vocalist Paul Marinaro, as many of you know, is one of our favorite Studio5 performers, always delivering an intriguing, entertaining, swinging event for our audiences. When Paul and I locked in this particular date, we talked about what this evening was going to be, and the details never became clear. The closest Paul got was that he wanted to present something intimate in scale, and something musically he hadn't done before. I kind of liked the mystery of it. A couple of weeks later Paul let me know that he was going to do an evening of duets with the extraordinary pianist Ben Lewis. Could this be any better? I heard Paul and Ben do a duet only one time, at Studio5, as part of Ben's evening of Bill Evans' music. Ben was in the middle of a gorgeous, lyrical set when he played an intro and Paul took the stage for just one song. Breathtaking. So treat yourself to an entire evening of two exceptional artists weaving thoughts, melodic phrases and magic right in front of us.
