Michael Kelly Cavan
Renowned for his soulful performances and deep connection to Irish music, Michael Kelly Cavan is a celebrated musician Canadian musician, and singer-songwriter, born in Ireland and raised by his immigrant parents in North Bay, Ontario. It was during his formative years that Michael found a love of music and his own Irish Tenor voice, first as a young choirboy and then as a singer and guitarist in the Irish pub scene.
He has performed as a sing-a-long piano player on a tourist train (the Polar Bear Express), and has graced the stages of Massey Hall, the El Mocambo, the Horseshoe Tavern, Hughs Room and various other venues. He has sung the Irish National Anthem (in Gaelic) in Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto to kick off the St. Patrick's Day celebrations. He has frozen his fingers off while playing on a float in the Toronto St Patrick's Day parade for several years.
His work embodies the spirit and tradition of Ireland. With a repertoire that spans both original songs and beloved classics, Michael's unique style captivates audiences and invites them to experience the stories and emotions woven into each note. Expect to hear a mix of traditional melodies and contemporary pieces that reflect his personal journey and the cultural tapestry of Irish music.
Travelworn
Opening the night will be Travelworn, a talented group known for their vibrant and heartfelt interpretations of Irish folk music. Their performances are characterized by a dynamic blend of instruments and harmonies that bring a fresh perspective to timeless tunes. With a passion for storytelling through music, Travelworn sets the perfect tone for the evening, engaging the audience with lively rhythms and poignant lyrics.
Travel-Worn is a unique and lively Traditional Celtic duo based out of Kitchener Ontario. Members include Egan Baird and Barry Phillips. The music they perform is primarily Irish and Scottish songs and tunes that are well-traveled and worn into their repertoire. They are both multi-instrumentalists who play accordion, mandolin, concertina, bodhran and djembe (drums), tin whistles and guitar.
