During our recent trip to California wine country, we explored some favorite producers in four different counties. Our first stop after we landed was Hobo Wine Co. in Santa Rosa and their wines and philosophy are directly in line with the ethos of our business. Buying from an awesome family-owned winery that produces wines of quality and better value.Founded in 2002 husband-and wife team Kenny Likitprakong and Lynn Wheeler, Hobo Wine Co. is producing some of the best values when it comes to quality California wine. Kenny grew up in the wine industry with his father working in the business and the “hobo” could reference bouncing around through wine experiences or their sourcing from vineyards around the state through long-term relationships.
But let’s talk about the wine. Authentic wines with old world sensibilities and lower alcohol without losing typicity and very food-friendly any time of the year. Most of the vineyards are farmed organically, there’s little invention with the fruit at their Santa Rosa space, and minimal sulfur is added at bottling. They’ve reduced the cost and weight of their packaging so they and you can save money and it has a lower carbon footprint from shipping. They’re also a member of 1% of the Planet, donating 1% of their gross sales to environmental causes.
We're excited to host Lynn at our shop (we began this discussion in March) and share some wines from her Folk Machine and Camp lines of wines. We'll pour you five wines for only $15. The tasting will be 6-8pm on Monday, October 20th, taste at your own pace. Pouring will begin at 6pm and end at 8pm so please give yourself enough time to taste through the wines. We appreciate an RSVP so we're aware of attendance but you'll pay that evening when you arrive.
We'll have our snacks menu, you can order from JT's Pizza & Pub, or we encourage you visit one of our neighboring restaurants before or after the tasting. Thanks to Adam Mahler of Ampelography for traveling to Columbus to join us for this event and to Vintage Wine Distributor for supporting this special event at Aardvark!
Here's the lineup for the evening...
Folk Machine White Light ($16.99)
Folk Machine Parts & Labor ($21.99)
Camp Chardonnay ($19.99)
Camp Merlot ($22.99)
