Downtown Books is pleased to welcome Ira David Wood III back to Roanoke Island for the inaugural event celebrating the release of his latest novel, The Bittersweet Voyage of the Golden Ship Hatteras- a deeply moving love story set on the Outer Banks of North Carolina at the turn of the century. A writer's loving tribute to a place, its history and its people. David will be in conversation with Bill Massey at the College of the Albemarle, Veteran's Hall, on Thursday, November 21 for a discussion about his book and life, with time for audience questions and a book signing to follow. Ira David Wood III is an award-winning actor, director, and author. He is the founder of Theatre In The Park in Raleigh, NC. His musical-comedy stage adaptation of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens has been cited as “one of the most successful shows in North Carolina theatre history.” His published works include A Lover’s Guide To The Outer Banks, Confessions Of An Elf, Finale, The JFK Assassination Chronology, and The Russian Galatea. The father of three children, David and his wife, Ashley, are proud to call North Carolina “home.”
