Phil Peel is a chartered mechanical engineer and the current President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), a professional engineering institution based in the United Kingdom. He was elected as President in May 2021
Phil has more than 35 years of experience in the engineering industry, primarily in the oil and gas sector, where he worked for companies such as BP and ExxonMobil. He has held various leadership roles throughout his career, including as a Managing Director and Vice President.
Phil is a strong advocate for promoting engineering to young people and increasing diversity within the profession. He has been involved in several initiatives to encourage young people to pursue careers in engineering and to address the gender imbalance in the industry. He is also committed to advancing the development of clean energy technologies and reducing the carbon footprint of the engineering sector.
During his presidency, Phil aims to continue the IMechE's work in supporting the engineering community, promoting the value of engineering, and raising awareness of the important role that engineers play in society. He also plans to focus on developing new technologies and addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
We are pleased to invite you to take a tour of ARU's engineering facilities and you'll have the opportunity to connect with other professionals in the field and build valuable relationships over refreshments.
