Christopher Meindl is a geographer who cares deeply about Florida’s environment. As a native Floridian, geography professor and Director of the USF’s graduate level Florida Studies Program, he gets to live his dream every day: reading, exploring and helping students learn about connections between people and the environment in the Sunshine State. Dr. Meindl is the author of the fantastic new book, “Florida Springs: From geography to politics and restoration".He is an Associate Professor of Geography and Director of the Florida Studies Program. A central Florida native, he earned MA degrees in History (San Diego State University) and Geography (University of North Dakota) before completing his PhD in Geography at the University of Florida in 1996. After teaching at Weber State University (Utah) and Georgia College, Dr. Meindl found his way back to Florida, working at USF St. Petersburg since 2003. Meindl is an environmental geographer, combining his interests in history and natural resources (particularly water), especially in Florida.
