The Rainwater House Concert Series is delighted to announce the arrival of two amazing award-winning songstresses in support of their latest release, Lantern in the Dark: Songs of Comfort and Lullabies. Doors will open at 6:30pm with the performance starting at 7:00pm.Though their names may not be familiar to you, this is a show not to be missed! Will and Stephanie have known Edie & Sarah since 2007, having met them both on the singer-songwriter cruise titled "Cayamo" - if you go, you know. We have had the honor of Executive Producing several releases for each of these performers, and we are proud to be part of this most recent release.
Colorado-based singer-songwriter Edie Carey has been performing since 1999, and is known for her unmistakable, soulful voice, her intelligent, heart-grabbing songs, but perhaps most especially for her warm, engaging presence on – and off – stage. As much a part of her show as the music itself, Carey’s wry and often self-mocking humor makes audiences feel as though they have just spent an evening with a very close friend. She was a featured vocalist along with Lisa Loeb on the 2020 Grammy-Winning ensemble “All the Ladies.” Americana Highways called her 2022 release “The Veil” “one of the best of the year” and Basic Folk listed it as #4 on their “Top 10 of 2022 So Far” alongside Grammy-nominees Anais Mitchell and Aoife O’Donovan. Wyoming-based Sarah Sample is an award-winning songwriter with a “raw, graceful voice” (Salt Lake City Weekly) and beautiful songs that weave a trail of stories through folk, Americana, and country and have garnered comparisons to Sheryl Crow, The Weepies, and Bonnie Raitt. Sample has played several prominent festivals—Merlefest, Cayamo, Folks Fest, Sisters, Telluride, Kerrville (not to mention winning songwriting contests at most of them). She has also warmed up stages for artists like Darrell Scott, Elizabeth Gilbert, Steve Martin & The Steep Canyon Rangers, Marketa Irglova, and Over The Rhine. More info at sarahsample.com
Please join us Saturday, May 3, 2025! Doors open at 6:30PM with the concert starting at 7:00ish. BRING YOUR CASH! The recommended donation is $25 (you can always pay more!) and you can pay when you get here. All proceeds will go to the artists!
Our venue has 28 seats available --- and there's standing room - just to give you a sense of possible audience size. Please select GOING to confirm you're planning to attend so we can get an idea of how many to expect.
REMINDER: This is a HOUSE CONCERT...not a house party.
If you have not attended a Rainwater House Concert Series show before, here are a few things to know:
1. It is BYOB! The RHCS Happy Machine will be loaded and ready (it'll be VODKA) - and please bring whatever other libations you prefer. We will have an ice chest for you to keep it cold if needed. (Drink Responsibly)
2. Bring a dish to share. It can be chips and dip, cookies, an order of wings, a personally prepared dish (our favorite), or anything you think people will like. We will have SOME snacks, but there may not be enough to feed everyone.
3. This is not a bar venue. We disapprove of talking during the performance, and we appreciate giving your undivided attention to our entertainers during the performance. If you need to talk, please go outside.
4. If you came to hear cover songs, you’ve come to the wrong place. This is for the artists to show off their original music. They may play some covers throughout the night, but it won't be the focus.
5. Silence your phones. Give some respect.
6. We do not CHARGE for admission. We ask for donations, but if you are there to listen to the artist, then you need to pay up (it is not fair to the artist for you to get something for nothing, and they give something and get nothing). This is the artist's livelihood. They aren't here for their health. THERE MAY BE MERCH - so bring extra $$$$
7. Enjoy yourself. Meet new friends through music. And most of all HAVE FUN! We know WE will!
