People's Bookshop is delighted to welcome Dan Hicks talking about his new book, Every Monument Will Fall: A story of remembering and forgetting.Dan is an outspoken contemporary voice calling for the decolonisation of the collections of art and artefacts held by British museums. He rose to national prominence as a leader of the campaign to remove the Rhodes statue from Oxford University and with his earlier book, The Brutish Museums: The Benin Bronzes, colonial violence and cultural restitution.
He carries that earlier examination forward in Every Monument Will Fall, a book that has already excited controversy. Come along on November 10 and hear him for yourself....
Tickets are just £5 that may be applied to the purchase price of a copy of Dan's book on the night. Wine, soft drinks, tea ,coffee, and nibbles are included in the ticket price.
Doors open at 6.30 and the event ends at 9.00pm.
