‘Dark secrets behind Manchesters’ closed doors’ Join Caroline England and Catherine Wimpeney in conversation about the inspiration and creation of their psychological suspense novels ‘The Sinner,’ and ‘Her Sisters‘ Shadow.’
Caroline England
CWA Dagger shortlisted Caroline England is known as the ‘Duchess of dark domestic noir’. She has written the psychological suspense thrillers BENEATH THE SKIN, top ten ebook bestseller MY HUSBAND'S LIES, BETRAY HER, TRUTH GAMES and THE SINNER.
Caroline has also penned gothic-tinged psychological thrillers THE HOUSE OF HIDDEN SECRETS and THE HOUSE ON THE WATER'S EDGE as CE Rose. The next CE Rose book will be published in November 2022.
Both CE and Caroline write multi-layered, dark and edgy ‘domestic suspense’ stories that delve into complicated relationships, secrets and the moral grey area.
Drawing on her days as a divorce and professional indemnity lawyer, she loves to create ordinary, relatable characters who get caught up in extraordinary situations, pressures, dilemmas or crime. She admits to a slight obsession with the human psyche, what goes on behind closed doors and beneath people’s façades. She also enjoys performing a literary sleight of hand in her novels and hopefully surprising her readers!
Catherine Wimpeney
Catherine Wimpeney was born and raised in Manchester. ‘Her Sisters’ Shadow’ is her debut novel and winner of Northodox Press ‘Novel of the Year’ poll.
Catherine spent her earlier years working as a mental health nurse and later as a psychotherapist and credits this experience for being drawn to writing about the psychological aspects of human behaviour.
Having experienced a mystifying event as a teenager, she likes to imbue her stories with undertones of the eerie and paranormal. Catherine is currently working on her follow up novel ‘All the Little Things in Between,’ for publication in 2023.
