About this Event
Join Clare Chambers as she discusses her new, captivating novel Shy Creatures –a life-affirming novel about all the different ways we can be confined, the joy of freedom, and the transformative power of kindness.
Shy Creatures is an immersive, multi-layered novel from the bestselling author of Small Pleasures that follows an art therapist in a psychiatric hospital in 1960s Croydon who decides to unravel the story of an immensely talented mute patient.
‘Shy Creatures reads easily and delightfully and yet is rich with emotional truth, and completely absorbing. I loved it, and didn’t want it to end.’ Lissa Evans,
Clare Chamber’s first job after university was working for Diana Athill at Andre Deutsch. Her first novel Uncertain Terms was published in 1992 and she is the author of eight other novels.
