Join Portland-based singer-songwriters Cilla Bonnie, Sara Hallie Richardson, and Katie Matzell for a special evening of music. They’ll each perform their own songs, some new and some reimagined, with lush, three-part harmony and backed by a full band.
Cilla Bonnie is a working bass player, singer and songwriter located in Portland, Maine. Over the past 15 years she’s played, toured and recorded in numerous projects in Maine, Boston and Los Angeles. In 2020 she released her fourth recording project, ‘August’ with her bandmates Emmett Harrity on keys, Chris Sweet on drums and Peter Herman on guitar. Cilla Bonnie’s music is a blend of R&B-inspired grooves and structure similar to Radiohead. In addition to her solo project, Cilla currently plays bass for Boston-based soul artist Ali McGuirk and various bands across New England. Check out Cilla’s most recent recording project ‘August’ and follow her on Instagram @cillabonniemusic to keep up with her performances.
Portland, Maine based singer/songwriter, Sara Hallie Richardson, performs and writes music through folk, indie, and electronic styles. With influences such as Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, and Bjork, Richardson’s songs are known for dense vocal harmonies and soaring melodies as well as combining synthetic and acoustic orchestral sounds. She has received honors such as the Dean’s Award for Research and Creative Achievement and the Outstanding Achievement Award in Arts and Communication Media from the University of Maine.
After performing her original work with the Portland Symphony Orchestra in 2016, Richardson moved to Los Angeles to continue her growing career as a singer and songwriter where she worked alongside her idols, was hired by world-renowned producers, and gained recognition for her songwriting.
Richardson happily lives back home in Portland to work for the Portland Symphony Orchestra and continues to write and perform solo, with other songwriters, and as part of the Amarantos Quartet.
Katie Matzell is a singer/songwriter from Portland, Maine who released her self-titled, debut EP in 2018. MaineToday called it “fierce and dazzling,” adding that Matzell’s vocals are “sweet, full and gorgeous” with a “richness to them that make the songs burst all the more.” The Deli Magazine said “Matzell’s voice, both effortless and simple, floats above a sea of washy keys and pocket grooves, calling comparisons to not only her influences of the past (Bonnie Raitt and Aretha Franklin), but to her contemporaries — Norah Jones and Emily King immediately come to mind.” Matzell was nominated by the New England Music Awards in 2018 for Female Performer of the Year. She has both performed and collaborated with notable regional and national acts while touring the Northeast in support of her debut release. You can expect new music from Katie in the coming year.
