Kate Forsyth is an Australian author best known for her historical novel Bitter Greens, which interweaves a retelling of the Rapunzel fairy tale with the true life story of the woman who first told the tale, the 17th century French writer Charlotte-Rose de Caumont de La Force. She is a five-time Aurealis Award winner.
Her latest book, "Psykhe", is a retelling of the character from ancient Greek mythology - Kate infuses it with new vigour as a life-affirming celebration of female strength, sexual desire, and empowerment
About Stuart:
Stuart McHardy is a writer, historical scholar, poet, musician, folklorist and renowned lecturer about Scottish history and culture, at home as well as abroad. His unique understanding of tradition comes from a thorough immersion in the storytelling arts and history alike.
In "The Nine Maidens", Stuart explores the stories of nine women, often attending a goddess or linked to a heroic or divine male, exist across much of our world. Triggered by a local story still told in his native Dundee, Stuart McHardy has traced what seems to be memories of groups of nine women,, across much of Europe and as far as Siberia, Korea, India and Africa.
Tickets for the event cost £5 and include a wine or soft drink on entry.
