About this Event

Join us for an intimate concert featuring GRAMMY®-winning recording artist Pauline Kim Harris and mezzo-soprano Natasha Nelson. Their program includes compositions by J.S. Bach, Ramin Heydarbeygi, Pauline Kim Harris, and Michael Kosch.

Violinist Pauline Kim Harris is an award-winning recording artist, composer, curator, and producer. She has performed across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia as a soloist, collaborator, and music director. Best known as half of the classical avant-punk duo String Noise, Pauline has also toured extensively with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, performs regularly with leading new music ensembles in New York City, and is a member of the American Symphony Orchestra.

Pauline’s creative work lives at the intersection of sound, movement, and visual art. She has premiered and recorded works by composers including Philip Glass, Catherine Lamb, and George Lewis, among others. Her collaborations have extended to dance, including performances for choreographers David Parker, Pam Tanowitz, and John Heginbotham. Her debut solo album, Heroine (Sono Luminus, 2019) — a reimagining of Bach’s Chaconne alongside Ockeghem’s Deo Gratias — was followed by Wild at Heart in 2021. Her performances have been broadcast on PBS, BBC, NPR, WQXR, WNYC, WKCR, and WFMU.

Pauline serves as Executive Director of Music at the Anthology (MATA Festival) and was the inaugural Music Director for the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company.

Mezzo-soprano Natasha Nelson has collaborated with composers on the premieres of more than eight new works for concert and stage. As a soloist, Natasha has performed at the Dramatists Guild of America in Manhattan and internationally in Italy and Austria. She is a roster member of the Opera Philadelphia Chorus, New York Philharmonic Chorus, and Philadelphia Symphonic Choir of The Philadelphia Orchestra. In recent seasons, Natasha has appeared in the U.S. premiere of The Listeners (Missy Mazzoli/Royce Vavrek) and the world premiere of 10 Days in a Madhouse (Rene Orth/Hannah Moscovitch) at Opera Philadelphia. Recent highlights also include performing as Alto Soloist in Schumann’s Spanische Liebeslieder with pianists Gilbert Kalish and Christina Dahl. In 2023, Natasha took part in the world-premiere recording of Aaron Zigman’s Émigré in Shanghai with the New York Philharmonic Chorus and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, recorded by Deutsche Grammophon. In 2024, she performed in Dai Asano’s Passage Piece at The Watermill Center’s annual benefit honoring Lucinda Childs. Additionally, Natasha is a trained dancer.

Natasha has hosted radio shows featuring contemporary classical music, historical recordings, and artist interviews on WUSB 90.1 FM/107.3 FM. Interview guests have included members of the Emerson String Quartet and Attacca Quartet, digital artist and printmaker Han Qin, and principal dancer Skylar Brandt of American Ballet Theatre, among others.
