What? a casual and warm way to celebrate the season in an intimate coffee-house setting.
What does singer, songwriter, and Chattanooga native Kevin Lane do with an assortment of leftover original Christmas songs? Find out on December 6, when Kevin performs an Evening of (Mostly) Original Christmas Music at The Well at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. This free show St. Mark’s celebration of Advent, and everyone is welcome.
Kevin Lane has been writing songs most of his adult life, and in 2009 he released Autumn Sky, an album of songs that ranged in style from gentle folk to hard edged rock and roll. But Kevin’s day job as a music educator gave him the opportunity to write songs for his students as well. This culminated in two Christmas-themed Broadway style musicals (No Christmas Till Brooklyn, A Christmas Kind of Love) and 2017 holiday single (“A Perfect Perfect Christmas”). But don’t mistake these songs a merely children’s music. “It’s my belief that much of today’s ‘children’s music’ is condescending to children,’ says Kevin. “Children are smart enough to want music that reflects their world, which can be quite complex. They deserve that.”
Kevin also has written holiday songs for himself, including the 2023 single, “Christmas Home.” And don’t worry, as there will be some Christmas classics thrown it, so familiar that the audience can sing along. “What’’s better than a Christmas singalong,” asks Kevin?
