We are delighted to present a rare double-bill concert featuring two leading figures of Hindustani classical music: Padma Bhushan Pandit Budhaditya Mukherjee (sitar and surbahar) and Arnab Chakrabarty (sarod).Described as the “sitar artist of the century,” Pandit Budhaditya Mukherjee is internationally acclaimed for his profound command of both the sitar and surbahar, offering performances that are at once technically masterful and deeply meditative. Sharing the stage is sarod virtuoso Arnab Chakrabarty, recognized for his nuanced blend of the Lucknow and Shahjahanpur gharanas—two venerable schools of instrumental music—delivering performances that are rich in lyricism and substance.
The late afternoon concert opens with a sarod recital by Chakrabarty, accompanied on tabla by Shankh Lahiri, followed by a short intermission. The second half features Pandit Mukherjee’s sitar recital, joined by his long-time accompanist, tabla maestro Soumen Nandy.
