Shimshai & Susana invite you on an intimate and healing acoustic musical journey. Offering original and traditional ceremonial medicine music from north to south, their voices weave together in simple and subtle purity. Bringing decades of world travel, ceremonies and traditional experiences together, these 2 souls offer you a glimpse through the window of ‘La Ventana’, their Shasta based retreat center and ongoing ceremonies and programs.
Usually performing simply as a duo, the focus of Shimshai & Susana’s music is really the healing message of the lyrics. Singing largely in Spanish, augmented by several indigenous American languages, and often incorporating English translations to allow the listener to integrate the powerful transformative words behind the music. Shimshai adds his intricate fingerpick guitar style and they may be joined by special guests on percussion, flutes, or other instruments.
Susana (Xochitlquetzalli) is a Colombian-born Medicine Woman and a spiritual teacher. Primarily of Indigenous Colombian blood, her ceremonial lineage stretches from the Amazon to Mexico & North America, and the mountain nations of her native Colombia. Susana shares her awareness of the gifts of Creation, bringing practice and experience from Indigenous traditions of North, Central, and South America. In addition to group retreats, Susana also offers personal guidance and consultations.
Shimshai is a sacred music singer/songwriter, producer, recording artist, multi-instrumentalist musician, and spiritual teacher. Shimshai's music invokes the sentiment of ancestral devotion and dedication to higher consciousness. A self-proclaimed seeker of truth, described by many as possessing the voice of an angel, Shimshai is gifted with the innate ability to deliver his message flawlessly in several languages, most profoundly the universal language of Love and Oneness.
Shimshai and Susana teach in their home center, ‘La Ventana’ and other venues around the world. Their gentle guidance is a prayer inspired by their deep connection to the spiritual world, Mother Earth, and their own hearts. They are married and reside with their children between Southern Oregon and Mt Shasta where they hold their retreat programs throughout the year.
