NOTE: This event is not suitable for children.
Curious about the mourning practices, funeral customs, superstitions, and the perception of death in the 1800s? If so, join us at Thornhill, home of Missouri’s second governor, which will be appropriately dressed for a funeral. You will stroll the candlelit grounds of the estate and hear from funerary tradespeople of the 1800s about death and burial practices. You’ll be surprised to learn how history still influences funeral customs of today – and doubly surprised by what used to be common practice!
Due to the subject matter and format of this event, we strongly recommend against bringing children. Check out our Jack O'Lantern Trail event for kid-friendly Halloween fun!
