About this Event
You Are Most Cordially Invited!
Pray, allow yourself to be transported to a more elegant age—a time when ladies and gentlemen moved with the utmost grace, and an afternoon’s amusement might be found in the refined company of a Country Dance or a Quadrille.
Your devoted hosts—adorned in garments most faithfully rendered in the fashion of the year 1831—will conduct you through four most diverting dances of the Regency period. With seventy-five minutes of engaging instruction and gentle encouragement, you shall be equipped with all the necessary steps to conduct yourself with the poise and dignity of a true lady or gentleman of the time.
To complete this charming affair, the incomparable Miss Heyrick shall provide musical accompaniment upon the recorder, with talents most pleasing to the ear. Such refinement of sound shall surely transport the senses to the Assembly Rooms of Brighton.
Yet, dear friends, dancing is but part of the entertainment. You shall also be treated to diverting tales and instructive accounts of Regency society—learn the delicate art of fan-language, discover the intricacies of social decorum in the presence of His Majesty, and understand the subtle yet vital rules of polite company.
Be not alarmed if you come unaccompanied or with no prior experience in dancing—our gathering is intended to delight all, regardless of proficiency. And while attire of the period is admired and encouraged, it is not a necessity to enjoy the festivities.
The sentiments of our past guests speak most eloquently on our behalf:
“Perfectly marvellous!”
“Lovely afternoon. Fun and informative about this interesting period. Felt very welcome.”
“A really great and fun event. Looking forward to the next one!”
“Thank you for such a wonderful afternoon! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!”
“Fabulous fun! Great performers.”
Please note: The church will be open during the workshop so some members of the public may observe this.
Regency Delights presents a singular opportunity for those with a taste for historical refinement, theatrical amusement, and the noble pleasures of days gone by.
