Denise M. Brown will lead your afternoon of caregiving insights.

2 p.m.: The Six Caregiving Stages

In the U.S., at least 55 million individuals care for a family member or friend. A caregiving experience is a unique one because of its challenging situations, difficult emotions and heartbreaking impact. We'll take a closer look at the six caregiving stages, a concept developed by Denise M. Brown in 1997. Over the past twenty-seven years, Denise has refined the concept to reflect today's caregiving experience.

3 p.m.: The 17 Caregiving Systems

When we care for and help a family member, we manage, navigate and advocate within 17 Caregiving Systems. A personal caregiving experience is hard because it’s so complicated and complex. Denise will share an overview of the 17 systems we manage, navigate and advocate within.

4 p.m.: A Good Morning Ritual for Stress Management

During this workshop, Denise will share results of her ongoing Family Caregiver Stress Survey. More than 1,300 family caregivers have rated their stress and shared the source of their stress. With these insights in mind, Denise will share how we can create a “Good Morning” space to practice a ritual of writing out a simple “Good Morning” message. Denise will help attendees think through how they can use a space in their home for quiet reflection and a realistic assessment of their stress. She’ll also help attendees turn this ritual into a habit so that each day contains moments that can help calm their stress.
