Chris Lord-Alge (Muse, Green Day, My Chemical Romance) the five-time Grammy winner and recording industry legend will run a mix workshop on December 4th at Roundhead Studios in Auckland. https://www.chrislordalge.com
Lord-Alge started his career at H&L studios in New Jersey engineering legendary tracks such as The Sugarhill Gang’s “Rappers Delight”, Grandmaster Flash’s “The Message” and “White Lines”. Moving to Unique Recording Studios in New York in the 1980’s he engineered and mixed a host of albums including James Brown’s “Living In America”, Joe Cocker’s “Unchain My Heart” and Tina Turner’s "Foreign Affair” albums, along with work for Carly Simon, Steve Winwood, Jeff Beck, Hall & Oates and Chaka Khan. His work also involved remixes for Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and The Cars.
In 1988 he moved to Los Angeles to work on notable recordings by Prince, Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks, Sade and Peter Frampton. After time spent in Nashville with Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Jo Dee Messina and many others, he returned to Los Angeles working with many of the world’s most high profile artists: Phil Collins, Elton John, Jewel, U2, Sum 41, My Chemical Romance, The Black Crowes, B.B. King, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Duran Duran, POD, 5 Seconds of Summer, Biffy Clyro, Meat Loaf, The Black Eyed Peas, Snow Patrol, Muse, Slipknot, Keith Urban, Aerosmith and his Grammy Award winning work with Green Day on their “Nimrod”, “American Idiot” and “21st Century Breakdown” albums.
Lord-Alge is renowned for his Waves CLA range of audio plug-ins widely used by the production community, as well as his CLA MixHub and his work with many pro audio companies such as Slate Digital, Avantone and Black Lion Audio. He’s also a regular speaker at Mix with the Masters.The Aotearoa Music Producer Series, launched in 2017 has become an integral part of up-skilling Aotearoa’s music production sector. The series has attracted the participation of many formidable international producers including: Andrew Scheps, Sylvia Massy, Gil Norton, Romesh Dodangoda, Guy Massey, Dave Eringa and Mark Rankin.
AMPS Mix Me 23 sees the return of international guests and will feature a series of one-day workshops focused on the art of mixing in a wide variety of musical genres. These will take place at venues around the motu with renowned mix engineer / producers from the US, UK, Australia, and Aotearoa along with a series of panel discussions related to the craft.
The days will run for 10am to 5pm, with lunch included at all paid events so participants can network and interact with the visiting producers.
