About this Event
Amplifying Voices of History in Civic Spaces: A Conversation with Mr. Steven Fox on Civil Landmarks and Monuments.
On October 9, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Mann Lounge at the Stetson University College of Law Gulfport campus, Stetson Law SJA and St. Petersburg Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Center invite you to join us for an evening with Mr. Steven Fox, the award-winning commissioned poet for the “I AM A MAN” plaza in Memphis.
Through his words and reflections, Mr. Fox will guide us in conversation about civic landmarks and monuments: how they preserve memory, shape dialogue, and amplify community voices. This gathering is not simply a lecture. It is an invitation to step into the ongoing story of how our civil spaces become a vessel for history and justice. Mr. Fox has previously inspired students in our Civil Rights and the Law course, and we excitedly welcome him to share with our broader community.
For those eager to go deeper, there may also be opportunities for smaller group conversations with Mr. Fox and we would be glad to help facilitate those moments for more storytelling and dialogue. We especially hope our friends and colleagues in TRHT will join us for what promises to be a meaningful and inspiring evening.
Let us gather together to remember, to learn, and to honor the voices that echo through our civic spaces.
