Social justice and environmental justice are two sides of the same coin. That's why we're inviting you to support Greenpeace volunteers during Amnesty International's Write for Rights campaign. What is Write for Rights?
Write for Rights is Amnesty International’s annual letter writing campaign. Each year, Amnesty selects approximately 10 cases of human rights violations from across the world and asks its supporters to write letters appealing to specific people and groups addressing these violations.
It’s a human rights campaign, what’s Greenpeace got to do with it?
The 2024-5 Write for Rights campaign has two direct climate cases:
1) Land defenders from the Wet’suwet’en Nation who are protecting their territories and sacred sites against the construction of a fossil gas pipeline on unceded land in what
is otherwise known as British Columbia.
2) Dang Dinh Bach (Bach), a prominent lawyer for environmental justice in Vietnam, who was arrested and imprisoned for “tax evasion” shortly after he led a campaign to reduce Vietnam’s reliance on coal.
Last year’s Amnesty campaign collected 5.8 million letters, emails and petition signatures from around the world, showing how small actions in social and civil rights can have a big impact when people join together.
Now it's your chance to make a difference.
