Amma Sri Karunamayi is a world-renowned humanitarian and spiritual teacher who has made it her mission to spread the messages of Love, Compassion, Selfless Service and Universal Peace. She has been touring the world for over 25 years inspiring countless people individually and to larger audiences via Gemini and Bhakti TV and in other platforms, including the World Parliament of Religions in the presence of the Dalai Lama and former President Jimmy Carter with her speech on the Plight of Girls Worldwide, and recently on Peace with the United Nations.
In rural, polio-stricken Andhra Pradesh, India, approximately 500,000 people live in abject poverty, where education and medical care are scarce. Here Karunamayi has established a free hospital, free mobile medical outreach team, a free school for children, a college for higher learning, leprosy care, homes for the elderly, free housing and water purification systems in 170 villages with polluted water.
Her job, she says, “is to wipe the tears away from people’s eyes.”
She asks not that we see her as a guru or that we abandon our own faith or path. She wishes only that we view her as a loving mother guiding us in our quest towards spiritual illumination, divine love and universal peace.

On Wednesday, August 20th there will be a Silent Meditation Retreat with Amma at Sane Living Center. Registration and Fee required. This includes a delicious vegetarian lunch donated by Hip Vegan Restaurant. Full day and half-day options are available.
