We are pleased to announce Amity Alize as our 2025 Connecticut Master Workshop teacher. Amity has studied Middle Eastern and Oriental dances for over two decades, and continues to deepen her knowledge through annual travels to Egypt. As founder of the multi-award winning Raq-On Dance studio, Amity encourages dancers to develop their own unique voice. Her troupe and students have performed in 12 states, Egypt, and Canada. She was invited to teach and perform at the Camp Negum Dance Festival in Cairo in 2015, directed the recently retired decade-long Shimmyathon Festival, and has hosted over a hundred events featuring national and international dancers. Amity’s style is described as Classical Golden Era Egyptian fused with Vintage American Oriental. She has written books, choreographies, and music for dancers. She can be seen performing at weddings, theater shows, fundraisers, and venues featuring Middle Eastern and Egyptian bands. For more information visit Raq-On.net. This year's workshop will have 2 parts: the first to learn to use techniques of Egyptian Style Belly Dance from the Golden Age to the present to build combinations. The second part will combine the combinations learned into a complete choreography to a new Mergence create by Amity with musicians in Cairo, Egypt.
