About Amita Batra:
Amita Batra is a story-driven artist who aims to exemplify that art is as boundless as the human spirit that embodies it. Formally trained in Ballet/Contemporary and Kathak, the Indian classical art of storytelling, Amita is currently developing a body language inspired by ideologies and techniques of both while using that language as well as her own experiences to create original stories told through movement. Credits include NBC-Universal’s Outfest, NY Black Arts Festival’s Aladdin, recipient of the NCG Grant for her original choreographic work “Inertia” which premiered at Martha Graham Theater, Director/Producer/Choreographer of "Unbound," a sold out dance showcase in Manhattan, Sita in Amit Patel & Ishika Seth's Unearthed: Indian Contemporary Dance Show, and most recently a member of the cast of Come Fall in Love - The DDLJ Musical.
