As part of the upcoming Semiquincentennial (250th) anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence, we are offering an "America 250 Genealogy" series to help you uncover your family's history. The series can be taken as a whole, or in individual sections. We will focus on different aspects of genealogy research and provide workshops where you can visit the museum to get help when and where needed. This series is in partnership with the Dakota County Historical Society, the Minnesota Genealogical Society, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. The first in the series is "Genealogy 101." Are you a beginner in climbing your family tree? Or is a "brick wall" blocking your path in your research? Or maybe you already have names and dates, but would be interested in learning more about the time and place they lived? Learn from the Minnesota Genealogical Society's Library Manager, Jeanne Bielke - Rodenbiker. You will learn the best sources, how to research, and some pitfalls to avoid in order to make progress towards your genealogy goals. Information about resources from the Minnesota Genealogical Society and the Hoffman Research Library will be provided.
