PARKERSBURG, West Virginia – Maine artist Robert Shetterly has created more than 280 portraits of Americans who tell the truth. Each of these portraits recognizes a person who has made significant contributions to creating justice in life in America, people whom Shetterly calls “Truth Tellers.”Thanks to a Direct Support Fund grant, Mid-Ohio Valley Climate Action will be exhibiting 10 portraits from his Environmental Justice Truth Tellers series at the South Parkersburg Library this fall. Included with each portrait is a carefully researched biography provided by Americans Who Tell the Truth (AWTT), the non-profit organization that makes arrangements for the artist’s traveling exhibitions.
An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, October 17, from 5:00 - 8:00pm. During the reception, Robert Shetterly will Zoom in from 6 to 7pm for a conversation with attendees. The exhibit is open to the public, free of charge, and will be available for viewing during regular library hours for approximately four weeks after the opening reception. During the exhibition, the library staff will feature books and other media that are written by, or about the people portrayed. The South Parkersburg Library is located at 1807 Blizzard Drive.
