Since 2006, the Backyard BBQ Band has been playing music that's perfect for a backyard party including originals, traditional country, blues, western swing, jazz and more. From Hank Williams to Louis Jordan, from Chicago to New Orleans and back again, again, join the band for a road trip through a musical roadmap of American roots music.
For this show, the band will pay tribute to Mark Wetzel (friend and bass player) who passed earlier this year. A number of musicians (all friends of Mark's) will perform to honor his memory. We expect some fond remembrances and stories about Mark. A longtime Urbana resident, Mark was a husband, father, neighbor, biologist, musician, traveler, music fan, storyteller and foodie. He loved a good conversation and a solid musical performance. Mark jammed and sat in with a lot of local bands and musicians over the years.
